Quinta do Javali is a small wine property with 18ha dedicated to vines. It sits on the left bank of the Douro river, in the parish of Nagozelo do Douro, a place with vineyard tradition since the beginning of the production of Port wine for export, in the late 17th, early 18th centuries.
JAVALI | CLOS FONTE DO SANTO BLUE CAPSULE | RED | 2017 | DOC DOURO
Wine created from the Biodynamic Viticulture Concept. The Blue Capsule results from a location more exposed to the sunset, which increases the polyphenolic richness of the grapes (tannins and anthocyanins), which thus “liberate” for the wine more color and a superior structure.

The year of 2017
A dry and relatively warm winter was followed by the three crucial spring months – March, April and May – that were cumulatively 2.6 ˚C (4.7 ºF) warmer than average and equally dry. The only surprising interlude was a cold spell during the last 10 days of March that on 23 March brought a rare snowfall and localised frost. April was the driest since records began in 1931 and delivered an absurdly low 2.6 mm of rain.
