Cartuxa reflects the tradition and famed quality of first people to make wine at Cartuxa: Carthusian monks who in 1598 established the Santa Maria Scala Coeli Monastery. With the aim of bringing back to life traditional wine making in the Alentejo, we produced this organic Cartuxa Red from Clay Pot. Using Alicante Bouschet red variety, the entire process is completed in these accient clay pots.

Aging:
After slow fermentation in old clay pots, the wine rested in full maceration in the pots until mid-November, by which time it was naturally filtered and submitted to a few months of aging in the pots.
Tasting Notes:
Dark core of a fruit with black cherry, black berry, mulberry, smoke and earth. Firm wine with smooth tannins.

Our most versatile food pairing wine, a favourite among sommeliers. Grilled meats, cold cuts, Italian pastas pairs beautifully.
